Signs and Symptoms



People with Acute respiratory distress syndrome may experience the following symptoms:

  • Severe shortness of breath
  • Labored and unusually rapid breathing
  • Low blood pressure
  • Confusion and extreme tiredness
  • Coughing
  • Muscle weakness
  • Organ dysfunction 

Shortness of breath is the leading contributor to patient discomfort of all ARDS factors because it is constantly painful to breathe.
